Montana's Beautiful Sweet Heart Papillons Welcomes You!

How We Got Started

When I was young I loved to watch the Westminster Dog Show every year. The toy dogs were always my favorites. In 1999 I watched a little tri-color named Kirby (Loteki Supernatural Being), a papillon, win Best in Show. What class, what grace, what a character as he jumped into his loving cup and posed for the whole world!! I was sunk! I fell lock, stock and barrel in love with papillons. I had to have one!

I researched on line, asked the pros, read books. Couldn't find a papillon in Montana except hundreds of miles away. Of course you know there are both kinds of dogs in Montana, both cow dogs and huntin dogs. I luckily found a for sale note pinned on my veterinarian's cork board of a lady in DeBorgia with Papillons! We missed that litter but bought both females from her next litter. We called them Sweet Heart and Sweet Pea. How sweet right? NEVER BUY TWO ALPHA FEMALES!!! We ended up selling Sweet Pea. I decided to breed Sweet Heart (if I could ever find a male papillon in Montana) so that other Montanans could enjoy papillons too. I waited until Sweet Heart was almost 3 years old and mature enough to mother a litter. Well lo and behold.......

On Feb 22, 2007  I traveled to Missoula, MT an hour north of us to pick up our new baby girl from New Hampshire and she just happens to be............Kirby's granddaughter!! We called her Sweet Heart's Montana Suki Loo. We were so thrilled to add her to our family! It's beyond my wildest dreams to have a papillon with the Loteki bloodlines! I'm sad to say that Kirby passed away last year on the first day of the Westminster Dog Show. He was 8 yrs old when he won and 15 when he passed away. A very good number of years to live and so many beautiful baby papillons he produced for the rest of us to love and enjoy. Thanks Kirby and thank you Deanna.

My Name is Sweet Heart, but you can call me Sarge!

Well, I'm sad to say it but Sweet Heart just turned 6 years old on February 28, 2008. That's 42 in dogs years. She has had 6 litters, five litters of 5 puppies and her last litter born 5/20/2008 had 3 males and 3 females!  She was just retired on Sept 11, 2008. She is now the one and only princess for a disabled woman and her daughter. As soon as she got to her new home she had to go potty but the daughter just had to do something quickly so Sweet Heart ran all the way around the apartment, picked up her leash and took it to the daughter!!! I'm sure Sweet Heart will train them well! I just can't say what an incredible dog she is. I'll miss my girl so much! But she deserves to be the one and only princess for the rest of her life instead of being "Sarge" the leader of the pack!

She and Max's puppies have all been wonderful little Papillons, a few had the down ears (phalene) most had the up ears, some of the males have been up to 9 lbs and their sire, Max, is 6 lbs. Misha, the male runt from her last litter, is only 5 lbs!! He'll be the mate to our 4 lb little female with the Loteki bloodlines, Suki Loo. In fact, Suki and Misha (she chose him!) are pregnant and due October 10th! All of Sweet Heart's babies are in wonderful forever homes with wonderful families.  They're all over the US from Montana, Ohio to Texas, California, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, Washington and even the US Virgin Islands!

I try to breed closely to the breed standard of the AKC. Those puppies that weren't close to the breed standard I have sold as pet only with spay/neuter agreements. Many of them could have been champions in agility, obedience and confirmation. Perhaps they are and I just don't know it!

OUR FUTURE PLANS

My husband and I moved down here to Hamilton, MT from Missoula, MT nearly 5 years ago. We bought a nice little house outside the city limits on one acre. We had the large back yard fenced with wood so our dogs had plenty of room to run and no way of escape. You've never seen anything until you've seen a pack of papillons literally flying around the yard! It's like butterflies in flight!!

We are now retiring from both work and breeding papillons. We plan on moving to a senior retirement complex this month. Although we have Suki Loo due for a litter on October 10th or thereafter, we have found homes for most of our adults and puppies. We have a 12 week old female and male puppy left from Sweet Heart and Max's litter from May 20th. We have Max and Suki Loo that we can keep with us in our new apartment. Max is terribly shy and Suki is "Daddy's Baby".  To see our adults left for sale please go to that site.

We'd Love to Hear From You!
